CONNECTICUT RIVER VALLEY CHAPTER The Nominating Committee is preparing a
slate of officers for election at the April 5, 2014, annual meeting.  We especially
need a candidate for SECRETARY, which has been vacant since April, 2013.  The
Secretary need only attend the Board meetings (listed below), take notes, and
compile and distribute the minutes of each meeting.  It is an excellent
(and relatively easy) way to serve CRVC.  Anyone interested should contact
Kathryn Lord at hglord@cox.net
before March 15.
Saturday, April 5th  Begin with a three and a half inch circle
surrounding a design painted on a 5" square of 18-mesh sage green canvas.
Dip into a stash of threads of all colors and fiber contents that cover the
table in front of you. Thread a needle and let your creativity take over –
voila~!~  Not “into” canvaswork?  That’s all right – decorative
surface stitches will work just as well.  Or you can turn the canvas over
and use the blank side of the canvas.  If you need more inspiration, the
chapter library will be right there for you to reference.
We will stitch our hearts out in the morning and
participants will be encouraged to share stitching ideas and lots of stitching
stories – do come with one or more show-and-tells to share with the
group...........
In the afternoon, after lunch and a brief business
meeting – our official annual meeting and election of officers – we will talk
about finishing ideas for the pieces begun in the morning.  Members will go
home with a partially stitched piece (some more completely stitched than others
- that’s OK) and some ideas for how to use them.
Finally, there will be an incentive to finish your
piece begun this day – a variety of valuable (really!) prizes will be awarded to
the ones voted the most creative, most colorful, best use of stitches, and the
best use of threads, by the members voting online from all the photos we will
post on the CRVC web site.
There will be a kit fee of $10 for the materials
for this program, and lunch will be at a local
restaurant (buy your own).
The most recently received book donations for our Foley/Cornelius Fund Stash
Sale will be available for purchase at this meeting.

The bottom section of this sampler is monochromatic and is worked using two
weights of cream silk to enhance the texture and design.

Oct. 3rd to Nov. 2nd.  We will meet at the museum at
11am on this Saturday to see the display and continue on for lunch at a restaurant
nearby. Saturday, December 6th Teresa will present a program about her amazing knotwork designs.  This
will be a chance to hear the story of how her work has progressed, especially
interesting because of her gingerbread houses that were chosen for Christmas
stamps this year.  She will bring models to show as well.
