Annual Spring Meeting
Saturday, April 12

Join in the fun!  We will be offering the fabulous Crewel Embroidery workshop with Gerry Barbeau.  It's a floral design to stimulate your "spring" fever.  Check out the class description at www.crvc-ega.org.

Bring projects finished or in the works for "Show & Tell".  We would also like to invite you to bring something that you need help with or may be having "stitcher's" block.  We want to inspire you!

The basket that will be our donation to the seminar is being prepared by Joanne Kobelski and Sheila Elliot.   Please bring an appropriate donation with you to this meeting.  The theme of the basket is "Busy Bee Basket", so samplers with bee themes, beeswax candles and garden seeds in designer envelopes are some ideas for appealing additions.

The Annual Meeting will be held at High Street School in South Glastonbury from 9 am till 4 pm.  We look forward to seeing you all there....

June program: Terry Gifford's XOctagons with Judie Solomon
Saturday, June 14
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
High Street School, South Glastonbury, CT

Join us for our meeting on June 14th as we stitch one of Terry Gifford's Kick Back & Stitch designs.  Because of health problems, Terry will not be able to teach the class, but Judie Solomon has offered to teach one of her pieces.  Judie has been given permission to teach from the Kick Back & Stitch XOctagon #21 pattern.  She will be teaching this design as a scissors fob during the morning, and during the afternoon she will get us started on stitching a laying tool case and a needlebook.

The project will be offered in the teal-on-green scheme shown below and in five alternate colorways shown at www.crvc-ega.org.  The kit includes the XOctagon #21 chartpack, a 10" square of 18-mesh canvas, one skein each of Watercolours, Wildflowers, perle 5, floss, Tiara and two of Flair and/or Frosty Rays, #22 tapestry needle and a length of ribbon for use in making the needlebook.

Students will need to bring stretcher bars for 10" square canvas, scissors, and "usual stitching supplies" including magnification, if needed.

News from the New England Region
The Merrimack Valley Chapter is hosting Jane Nicholas for a two-day workshop on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1st and 2nd.  Jane is a wonderful teacher from Australia.  She teaches beautiful stumpwork, and examples of her pieces can be seen in the National Seminar brochure for Rye Brook, NY.  One of her books was a recent addition to our library.  Those of you attending the NER Seminar in Farmington will be given specific information about the price and location of the workshop.  If your schedule allows you to attend, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Plans for Region Day have been completed.  The date is September 20th and the location is the Sheraton Tara Hotel in Framingham, MA.  Pat Houghton will present a full day of designing information as only she can. This will be a non-stitching day......just sit back and enjoy her ideas and suggestions as she discusses the designing of a box top including a building and landscape.  A notebook of her information can be purchased for $20.  At the NER Seminar a flyer advertising this day will be in your welcome packet, and you will be able to sign up with Lisa Green at that time.

Exciting news from the Region is its sponsorship of two group correspondence courses for its members.  Check "What's New" at www.crvc-ega.org for class information and registration forms.  The deadline for registering for these courses is April 30th.

See you on April 12th and on May 2 - 4 at the New England Region Seminar!
